Georg Jensen and Vivianna Torun - a love story

November 22, 2017
This year marks the 50th anniversary of when the Scandinavian design house started its iconic collaboration with Vivianna Torun (1927 - 2004) - one of Sweden's most successful silversmiths and designers. To celebrate the anniversary, Georg Jensen is re-launching the infamous Savannah collection, an interpretation of the designer's passion for modern elegance and pure forms.

The collection is given an expanded array of precious stones that gives the jewelery a kaleidoscope effect when the light hits the stones and creates a warm impression.

Vivianna Torun lived an untraditional and exciting life. After graduating in Stockholm, she moved to Paris in the mid 50's where she spent much of her time at Picasso and Matisse. This was where she created a name for herself with a circle of events consisting of Billie Holiday, Brigitte Bardot and Ingrid Bergman.

Despite its high-quality customers, Torun wanted to create so-called "anti-status" jewelry. The jewelery was a clear rebellion against the pretentious, and she chose to use more humble ornaments for the benefit of precious stones. Torun's design was sharp and inspired by nature's essential forms in a modern way - something that was unique.

Georg Jensen also launches the iconic Vivianna Bangle Watch now in rose gold. The time was first shown under L'Objet in the Louvre in Paris in 1962, and was launched by Georg Jensen in 1969.
