British Vogue continues to push boundaries with their February cover

British Vogue continues to push boundaries with their February cover

As tradition, the February issue of British Vogue brings readers the first distillation of the new collections. As any fashion watcher will have noticed at the spring/summer 2022 shows, the rise of the African model felt, at last, like a permanent revolution.

Since becoming Editor-in-Chief, Edward Enninful has continued to push boundaries and make statement with his covers. This number is no different and shows how fashion have entered a revolutionary shift, where we are challenged to change our principles and norms. Our generation tends to be more inclusive, and fashion should be for everyone. The shift deserves attention because the fashion industry is heading into a new era.

Photographed by Rafael Pavarotti, the cover has been well received on British Vogue’s Instagram and has been the one attracting the highest number of engagement.

Bottega Veneta takes over The Great Wall of China

Bottega Veneta takes over The Great Wall of China

Bottega Veneta has once again proven that it is possible to create exceptional marketing without social media. This time, their newly appointed Creative Director, Matthieu Blazy idea was to take over The Great Wall of China in honor of Chinese New Year.

The campaign took place from the 6th to the 12th of January 2022. It included a digital banner across the top of the wall with the text “Bottega Veneta” and “新春快乐” (Happy New Year) in the brand's green signature color and a tangerine shade of orange, the latter being a symbol of good luck in China.

When Chanel released images ahead of their Haute Couture show on January 23rd detailed-oriented onlookers quickly noticed an aesthetic belonging to Norwegian photographer, Ola Rindal. Living and working in Paris for numerous years, Rindal has shot for magazines like Purple and AnOther, as well as brands such as Louis Vuitton and Balenciaga. The images feature a stunning Charlotte Casiraghi riding an equally breath-taking horse. A nod to the strong and independent woman who is Virginie Viard’s muse.

The post-show notes as well as Chanel’s own social media channels continues to feature Rindal’s series of silhouettes amidst graphic decor and diffused lighting, imagined by Xavier Velihan for the show.

André Leon Talley’s passing

André Leon Talley’s passing

Vogue’s Creative Director André Leon Tally was praised by the fashion world. When he passed away on the 18th of January, he left a fashion world in grief.  At 73, Leon Talley was a true pioneer known for his strong personality and eye-catching caftans, hats, and tunics.

The 73-year-old industry pioneer worked alongside everyone from Diana Vreeland at the Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Institute to Andy Warhol at Interview, served as the Paris editor for WWD and spent decades working with Anna Wintour at Vogue, first as creative director then as editor-at-large. British Vogue's Editor-in-Chief Edward Enninful made a tribute thanking Leon Talley of paving the way.

"My story is a fairytale of excess, and in every fairytale, there is evil and darkness, but you overcome it with light,” Talley told The Guardian in 2020. “I want every person I come across – the stranger on the street, the church member in the pew next to me – to feel love. I have not been privy to love in my life, but I want them to feel that they have received some love from engaging with me, André Leon Talley."

André Leon Talley will be remembered by industry legends and will have made a forever mark on our industry.

And this is only January. With Copenhagen Fashion week kicking off, we are sure February will not disappoint.
