New Store Opening: Chanel
This long-awaited boutique is located on the exclusive Nedre Slottsgate, in the heart of Promenaden, the epicenter of luxury, fashion and lifestyle in Norway. The bright and spacious 345-square-metre boutique showcases the latest Ready-to-Wear creations by Artistic Director Virginie Viard, along with bags, shoes, eyewear and accessories. It also features Watches and Fine Jewellery creations as well as a selection of Fragrance and Beauty products.
For this destination, the New York-based architect Peter Marino, the House's longtime collaborator, revisited CHANEL's allure and timeless modernity, harnessing the codes of the House in fresh and unexpected ways. CHANEL’s color palette of black, white and gold is interspersed with rich tones, creating a warm, sophisticated atmosphere with custom wall finishes, bespoke fabrics and furniture upholstered in the House's emblematic tweed.
"It gives me great pleasure to welcome Chanel to the Promenaden district’s impressive portfolio of the world’s leading luxury brands. The opening of the Chanel boutique is a further example of Oslo stepping out of the shadow of our neighbours Stockholm and Sweden to truly position Oslo as the main destination for luxury in Scandinavia.” said Annette Lund, CEO of Promenaden Management.
Upon entering the boutique, the visitor is greeted by a selection of iconic and novelty handbags, small leather goods, costume jewellery and eyewear collections. Completing an immersive presentation of the House’s creative universes, an exclusive selection of Watches, such as the Première Original Edition, Code Coco and J12 are presented as well as Fine Jewellery creations including the Coco Crush and N°5 collections. Additionally, an area is dedicated to Fragrance and Beauty, including the Les Exclusifs de CHANEL fragrance collection.
The first floor is home to the Ready-to-Wear collections and a shoe salon surmounted by a rock crystal chandelier by Goossens. A second, more intimate Ready-to-Wear salon invites clients to peruse the most recent designs. Bespoke furnishings define this space, while a pair of antique black lacquered side tables nods to Gabrielle Chanel’s apartment on Rue Cambon.
In keeping with the CHANEL culture of supporting the arts, pieces commissioned specifically for the boutique include “Chapeau Crapaud!” by Rémy Markowitsch and “Camellia” and “Bricks Maze (White)” by Shelter Serra.
Fusing elegance with a modern sensibility, this new CHANEL boutique honors the House's rich history whilst offering customers an unforgettable shopping experience in the heart of the Norwegian capital.
